The Quillow Queen

"Flower"

Posted by Lesley 15 Nov 2019 at 00:17

I had fun digging out some of my own baby pictures and wanted to tackle something much more intricate to do them justice. When I was very little, my Dad used to call me Flower, so that is what I made. There is a total of 73 pieces, 198 seams (each individually stitched) and it took me 7 hours to create (after I’d printed all the photos)! It was a true labor of love, but an enjoyable one.

And Now For Something Completely Different

I have also been working on some of my own Treasured Memories cushion covers, because they are worth cherishing, and also to show as samples and ideas for those who are thinking about a photo cushion but not sure what it might look like.

This is the Great, Great, Grandpa cushion that I made for my son who is following in the career footsteps of his ancestor some 150 years later. Come and visit me at the Christmas markets to hear the full story and see the rest of my special collection.

I will be at the Cochrane Christmas Market at the Ranche House, Sun 17th November.

This is a nod to the Women of the West

We all love our Western themes and designs, and this one is a very special nod to the Women of the Wild West - it wouldn’t have been won without them!

These cushions are perfect for snuggling into whilst sipping that first brew of the morning. Each design is different and there are 4 more panels waiting to be made into the most inviting of cushions.

Here is a sneaky peek at a series of cushions featuring beautiful locations, mostly in Alberta. I do have more panels to create featuring other wonderful places further afield.

Silver Circuits Series

It feels so great to be sewing again and having fun designing new things. This new cushion cover is for the “techno geeks” that we all know and love, and likely couldn’t do without. This fabric is so unique, I just couldn’t resist. But I only have so much to play with, so there won’t be too many in this special series. If you want one for a Christmas gift, I suggest you get in touch with me soon to place your order. Send me an email

Canadian Places Series

Canada is full of incredible places to visit which lead to a treasure trove of special memories of your adventures. This series features somewhat retro pictures of some amazing places from the perspective of looking through a window, maybe a train, an RV or a car. Where have you been, or would like to go next? Jasper has always been on my wish list of places to visit. One day I will get there!

Canadian Icons Series #1

I’ve had to take some time off to rest a repetitive strain injury, but I’m back at it again, albeit a bit more gently. This series is made up of all kinds of well known Canadian iconic images and traditional colors. Each cushion is unique and features a variety of designs made up of combinations of the classic maple leaf, well known wording describing what it means to be Canadian, small animals, large animals, Inukshuks, and Mounties. Enjoy!
